Christopher Matthews to Relocate

Fans of Christopher Matthews will be happy to learn that in February the store will be moving to a new location at 2239 Old Emmorton Rd, just a block away from Festival. We are huge fans of its card selection and unique gifts.
We've got to wonder what the owners of Festival are thinking. It's another empty storefront, in the last few years it's lost:
Bombay;
Mattress Giant (or Mr. Mattress, a matress store nonetheless)
Card Factory
Moxleys,
Carpet store
Cheeburger Cheeburger

We'd like to see something new in there that's NOT a Halloween store or temporary cheap bookstore.

I gotta believe Cristopher Matthew's left on it's own....that's a high rent district and I gotta believe they (Cristopher Matthews) either couldn't keep up with the rent payments or wanted to widen their margin

As the previous comment states, the Festival is a high rent location. I find it interesting that investors which own these centers are willing to let tenants go rather than work with them. In these times especially, you would think they would want to keep their tenants. I also really dislike places like the Halloween stores. Don't be surprised if they put a dollar store in there next. Festival was originally supposed to be an upscale center, but now they just want to fill it up with any business that wants to be in there. It's too bad, really. On the other hand, it could be that Christopher Matthews new landlord made them an offer that was unbeatable. Landlords are scrambling for tenants in this economy.

I don't believe Festival was ever intended as upscale, I've worked there for 15 years and when I started we had a Hechingers, Pet Store and there was a Dollar Store. And now we have a Karate School, but with Kohl's and Shop Rite it's still a busy center as anyone who as tried to get in there during Christmas can agree with.
