We love Wegmans. The staff is friendly, it's clean and not very expensive--with the exception of the prepared food section. With that area, enter at your own risk! Home Goods is cursed with the pre-existing Weis parking lot which is too small and insanely arranged. It's very busy and has brought some life back to that center.
Our only complaint, sitting through the extra lights to get there from our side of the 24/Tollgate intersection/manmade disaster area. In our imaginations of what that intersection would look like, we imagined that we would have the light at Constant Friendship and then breeze over to the Wegmans. Now we have an extra stoplight and it takes twice as long as it used to.
And when is it going to be finished? Why as we write this is one lane of traffic closed and orange barrels everywhere? When?
Also, if you missed it, in Friday's Aegis there was an article about how great the traffic pattern was. The reporter talked with various officials who said they hadn't heard anything negative, thereby helpfully providing a laundry list of people who are going to get complaints from us at TAA. Thank you Aegis.

I-95 Shooting: Police Want Help
The reason for all the traffic this a.m.: The AP and all local media outlets are reporting on two shootings that happened around 2:30 a.m. today on I-95 on the southbound shoulder of the highway north of Route 24.
The AP reports that in the first incident, emergency vehicles responded to a call and found a man who had been shot, and he later died at Upper Chesapeake Hospital. Another shooting victim was taken to Upper Chesapeake separately. The Maryland State Poice are saying these shootings are related. The second victim is supposed to recover.
The state police are asking anyone who may have been driving along I-95 at that time and may have seen something to call the Bel Air barracks at 410-879-2101. The police spokesman on the local news made it sound as if the shooting may have happened right there, or there was an altercation at that scene. Because the investigation is ongoing, the state police didn't release too much information.

Rt. 24/Plumtree Zoning Question
Got a new comment on my previous Plumtree Road/Rte. 24 zoning post. An anonymous poster reports that an Aldi is supposed to be built on the site. The poster is right, this chain could not be further on the grocery store sale from Wegman's! There are many in Philly/NJ area. It's the kind of place where you take your own bags, not to be green, but it's all part of the discount store atmosphere. Lots of generics -- in Philly you had to leave a quarter to get a grocery cart. The first (and only time) I shopped there, I kept trying to get the cart out until someone came up and said, they were chained together, and then gave me a quarter.
I'd be interested if anyone else has heard this, or if the anonymous poster could give some more info.
