Weis in Abingdon Closing
Weis will close its door Feb. 26. This is not surprising, but sooner than we expected. Certainly the two years of construction before Wegman's opens didn't help its finances. But we must say we won't miss the terrible parking lot. We did get a few good birthday cakes in there, however.

I'm not surprised. That store has been neglected for a long time. With the brand new and much nicer Weiss just up the road on Rt 24, why go to that older and smaller store? I really fear that the shopping center there is going to turn into a serious eyesore full of vacant storefronts. It was poorly designed from the beginning. I don't understand why Harford County and other jurisdictions aren't more particular about the way shopping centers are designed.

The rumor I keep hearing is that there's plans for a Bass Pro Shop to replace it...but I can't find proof of this. Just keep reading about it from forums, and hearing it from friends and family. Crossing my fingers and hoping it's true...
I keep hearing the rumor (from family and friends) that a Bass Pro Shop will be replacing the Weis...but I just can't see how a store of that size will fit there...although, I'm hoping it's true.
