Headline of the Future....

"Weis in Constant Friendship to Close"
Our friend at Bel Air News & Views has the entire story, but Wegman's is indeed coming to Abingdon. As far as we can tell, it will be directly across from Weis on one side and WaWa on the other side.
While we here are very happy it is coming, it's hard to wrap our brains about what the intersection will look like with the new exit from 95/24 configuration.
One thing we would bet on: Weis is toast. After years of neglect will it surprise anyone? After some initial doubts about the Giant renovation, we are enjoying the self scan and the upgraded natural food selection. Someone obviously knew Wegman's was in the works.
If you have a moment look at the comments on the BAN&V site. The discussion about driving all the way to Abingdon is hysterical. It reminds us of a story a friend told us about a woman she knew who lived in Bel Air and asked her, an Abingdon resident, what it was like to be able to shop at Walmart.

I heard about Wegman's this morning. How exciting!!! There are several mysterious things happening on 924. Any hints?

Although on BANV's site, I questioned whether Wegman's wasn't actually being built in Abingdon, instead of Bel Air, I will happily do the drive weekly from Forest Hill. Heck, I already drive 5 miles daily to Starbucks, and usually stop at Giant or Redner's, when I need to. I'm guessing the people who are complaining about the long drive are the same people who think we need two Kohl's within 7 miles of each other. I hope the planned new intersection will bring some relief for those of you facing the traffic daily.
